Penny Lane isn’t just a BEATLES<\/strong> song, it’s a real street in Liverpool.  But some people believe it was named after slave trader James Penny.  Officials are looking into it, and if it’s true, the street could end up being renamed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FULL STORY:<\/strong>  Penny Lane . . . the same Penny Lane that the BEATLES<\/strong> sing about in their song of the same name . . . is a real street in the band’s hometown of Liverpool.  And it might be RACIST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People have started to turn on it because it MIGHT have been named after an actual SLAVE TRADER named James Penny.  Some of its street signs have even been vandalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the record, Liverpool’s International Slavery Museum says there’s no conclusive proof the street was named after James Penny . . . but they’re looking into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Liverpool’s mayor says that if it WAS named after Penny, it could very well be renamed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
