nationwide are continuing to rise.\u00a0 By day\u2019s end Tuesday, states reported more than 87,000 new cases with more than 50,000 people hospitalized and a reported 1,079 deaths.\u00a0 Coronavirus hospitalizations in the Midwest <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/abcaudio.us4.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=e7c6daf297b0d503640349bcb&amp;id=60504b69ca&amp;e=e42c4dc170\" target=\"_blank\">in particular<\/a> are on the rise, with 238 people currently hospitalized per million people, according to the Covid Tracking Project.\u00a0 Overall, there are 40 states and territories where infections are high and remaining that way, with 34 states and the District of Columbia showing an increase in positivity rates, and 46 states, plus territories and D.C. showing an increase in hospitalizations.\u00a0 Twenty-six states and territories are reporting an increase in daily deaths from COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
