Abbo, an infectious diseases specialist at the University of Miami Health System and the Chief of Infection Prevention for Jackson Health System. \u201cWhat we were seeing in Wuhan [China] five months ago, we\u2019re now seeing here,\u201d Abbo added, referring to the Chinese city where the first case of the virus was reported, in late December 2019.&nbsp; She joined Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez and several other medical experts on a Zoom call, minutes after Florida announced 12,624 new cases of COVID-19 and one day after it set a record for any state, with 15,300 new cases reported.&nbsp; Gimenez blamed the record numbers on residents not following guidelines to restrict COVID-19\u2019s spread.&nbsp; \u201cThere\u2019s no Boogeyman. The reason is us,\u201d said Gimenez. &nbsp;\u201cWe have to change our behavior.
